What Do Bad Girls Eat for Breakfast?

Ok, I don’t really know what bad girls eat for breakfast.  Probably, nothing.  And that’s why they are so bitchy for the rest of the day.   And why do you wanna know that anyway??  But I definitely know what they SHOULD eat before they're off to cause trouble.  J

If you figured out your breakfast and feel great after it, then good for you.  Keep rockin’ it, baby.  If not or you’re sick and tired of what you usually eat, then tune in.  The goal is for you to feel your best and look great not only in the morning, but also throughout the day.  Blood sugar is much more stable if you have a good timely breakfast.

Let me tell you a secret:  lots of people who always struggle with weight, don’t actually eat breakfast or eat some bullsh*t.  So let’s not do that.  Let’s learn some good habits.  On my recent trip to Russia, I noticed that everyone I know eats “kasha” for breakfast.  Porridge, that is.  As a good guest, I ate what I was offered and when I came back to States, I decided to continue the tradition.  With practice, it’s very easy to make.  Here we go:  Millet-Corn Breakfast Porridge recipe.

This is a gluten-free meal, so get some millet and corn groats in a bulk section of a health food store.  It’s much cheaper than to buy in packages.  We need 1 cup of these grains mixed:

Then you need 3 cups of either water, milk, or dairy-free milk, like almond milk, or my favorite hazelnut milk.  Many people do better with goat milk than cow’s milk.  Here is what I like:

Bring liquid to boil and add mixed grains, stir, reduce the heat to very small.  Add salt and try to use a non-refined salt like this one I found at Costco:

The cooking process takes about 10 mins while stirring occasionally.  Closer to the end add some sweet and fancy stuff like this:

When “kasha” is ready, it will look like this:

It’s ready to eat but if you are feeling extra fancy, you can add more goodies like ground flaxseed, nuts and chopped fruit for extra nutrition.  Raw honey is great, as well as this awesome unsweetened apple sauce that TJ’s sells:

Just throw in whatever you like and enjoy!  You will notice how much better you feel and look.  And please, share your experience!  Tell me about it!  J

  1. Please do me a favor and stop worrying about calories and sugar when it comes to wholesome homemade natural breakfast. Count those calories when you are getting that white chocolate mocha latte at Starbucks! :-)

  2. I prefer just having an oatmeal topped with berries/fruits, however I didn't have time to cook it for myself in a while. However Misha had some a couple of days ago. :)

  3. Katya, you actually motivated me to start cooking kashas in the morning when your Mom was here and you were trying to feed both of them. :)

    1. :) Oh, that was a precious time when I didn't study. We're going to buy a new cooker with a delay timer, so that I would be able to put all ingredients before going to bed and my porridge will be waiting for me in the morning:)
