I am not a Type A person. (Sometimes
I wish I were.) But I am definitely an Action Girl. If sh*t ain’t done, I ain’t happy. For example, I can’t fully relax in a messy
and dirty house. And that was a problem
for the last couple of month since I started working full time AND trying to develop
my business. Until I found a nice solution.
Cleaning has always been an issue for me. I like to live in a clean place, with stuff organized
because it helps me think clearer and feel better. But I also like to be outside and active, do
health coaching, read and cook. So there
is no cleaning during the week. And on
the weekends… That’s when it got
tricky. The house was very messy but I
wanted to enjoy my only 2 days off too. So
I would push the cleaning back until the weekend was quickly over just to
realize I again don’t have time to clean during the week. Snow ball effect. Result:
anxiety and overwhelm. Not good.
It’s a classic case of procrastination. When you keep putting off something you
don’t wanna do, the more you push it,
the harder it gets to get it done.
My solution is simple:
get it done and over with first thing on Saturday morning after sleeping in. On my calendar,
these three hours are blocked and nothing else is scheduled. Like Little Prince, I organize my Planet. I set up a nice start for a nice weekend so
that I can completely relax and do whatever the hell I want without feeling
guilty and lazy.
Do you have a better solution? Maybe you can afford a cleaning lady? My sister can and it’s wonderful. But she is in Russia and it’s cheap
there. I am definitely thinking to hire
some help in the future, at least for some major bi-monthly cleanings. But until that happens, meet my buddy the
vacuum cleaner! ;-)
