Better than Popcorn?

To me, part of the excitement in this diet is to find the new ways to enjoy the healthy foods and avoid the unhealthy ones without feeling left out.  Without craving the bad guys.  Recent medical studies confirmed that people need to eat about 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits daily.  Fresh and cooked.  And when you eat more veggies and fruit, you have less space for junk.

But back to popcorn deal.  I recently started going to farmer's market and one of my favorite things to get there are sweet peas.  In the past I always opened them and only ate the peas, but my husband told me that I'm missing out by not eating the green shells.  The problem with eating the whole sweet peas is that you need to bite the ends off and spit them out, etc.  So I discovered that it pays to cut the ends (pulling the middle string out) and put ready to eat sweet peas in a bowl.  It takes about 10 mins to do it, but then you can eat it just like popcorn.

Now, popcorn is not a bad thing.  They are whole grains but they are dry and usually go with butter and salt.  So it's kind of heavy and dehydrating.  But eating fresh sweet peas together with their shells gives you the benefit of eating raw fresh vegetables, staying hydrated and getting the precious fiber all at ones!  Also, because they are very sweet, it will definitely satisfy your sugar cravings in a healthy way.
