Sometime, that’s what happens. You start eating a little too much sugar, gluten and low quality dairy, you go out and over do it, you don’t sleep much and start hitting caffeine again. Fridge looks foreign, inviting and the last thing on your wish list is home cooking. Nearby deli sounds like an option. In other words, you get disconnected from your body. So that’s what is happening to me now. Was on a great balanced diet feeling happy and light. And now my energy is down, my appetite is gone and my belly is tied in a knot. Did I really live like that all the time in the past?? What a miserable state of affairs!
Well, good thing I know what to do. First and foremost, cut the crap, as they say in business meetings. J No more sugar, gluten, dairy, overeating, alcohol, caffeine, late nights. Second, become friends with your fridge and its content again. It feels overwhelming at first to even open the damn thing. But it’s worth it. I discovered bunch of half-cooked unattractive items that I could not connect into one meal, yet soon, I got in the grove of happy random cooking again. Result: yummy roasted buckwheat with beets, marinated herrings and miso soup. Somehow, it’s exactly what I want at the moment.
It will take time to restore the balance and feel well again. But it’s on the way. I’m still tired and my belly hurts but I am patient. I learned that with natural healing it doesn’t happen overnight. It took me 2 weeks to screw up my balance, and I shouldn’t expect to restore it in one meal. There is no magic pill. Which reminds me about another great healing rule: Slow Down. Don’t be lazy but don’t rush through the day. Savor your tasks and savor the rest time between them.
I am grateful for this experience. It reminds me why I want to become a health coach. There are so many people who don’t feel well and I can relate to them now. But unlike me, they don’t know what to do about it.
