3/11/2011 What I’ve Been Up To

Old news but a big one nevertheless:  I got enrolled into an Institute of Integrative Nutrition.  My classes start in May and a year after I will become a Certified Health Coach.  Fantastic!  I will learn a ton and will be able to help myself and people around me to be healthy and happy.  Keep hanging in there until then.  J

The school seems really cool.  It used to be campus-only school located in Manhattan but now they went online.  I already got a very impressive looking box of materials – books and iPod with lectures.  There is also a big online forum with more stuff.  But before I start digging in, I decided to finish two important books:  both recommended by my bro and both are very relevant to the health coaching.

The first book is called “Getting Things Done” by David Allen and is the best book on time management and less stressful productivity.  I wish I read it many years ago!  I am feeling more organized and productive, or at least now I know how to.  J  This book was also one of the reasons I got hooked up on caffeine (and sugar) again – it just feels amazing buzzing around the office and getting stuff done after a cup of something strong.  This is exactly what I love about the office job – that super productive, high-focused drive which is damn addictive.  But unfortunately I can't afford it anymore.  For some reason, I am very sensitive to caffeine now.  Most likely, it has to do with my hormones, but caffeine messes me up like crazy.  After this wonderful high, I get fatigued, sad and even anxious.  And that’s when I start craving sugar and other crappy foods, of course.  Anyway, I’m off caffeine now and feeling normal and stable.  But the first couple of days without caffeine gave me some major headaches that I am so not used to.

The second book – I’ll write about it once I start reading it.

Another news, I joined Charlene Rose’s Santa Barbara salsa group!  And I love it.  It’s not too much effort as I originally was afraid of.  And she is lovely as well as her way of teaching.  My life is just not complete without some quality dancing.  As much as I enjoy yoga and running/walking, the feeling I get when I dance something cool beats them all.  My Mom was right again.  J

A few words about my diet.  I confess that overall in February I went off the diet.  Such a loser.  Little by little, I started eating crap and the whole addicting circle developed with all the consequences.   Which reminded me how much it actually suck.  I’m not saying that everyone will have this reaction to sugar/caffeine/processed stuff, but I do – it messes me up.  Especially after I was on a good, detoxifying diet, going back to bad stuff feels like an earthquake.  Not right away, but it sure does eventually.  So I’m back on track now which is not difficult at all once you go caffeine/sugar free.  (By “sugar” I mean desert, a refined sugar, not fruit.)
